Sleeping Monkey Presents...
Long time no blog
Oct 06 2006Well I haven’t blogged properly since a day less than a week ago. So what has happened since then? Not a lot really… Sunday morning I did absolutely nothing that I can remember… saw Dad and picked up some glasses that I wanted at uni because he had to come in to sort out some problem at University House. Sunday afternoon, met up with Adam from King’s Church and we all went back to his house, chatted and had a table football tournament. In the evening we went to King’s Church itself, for their second ever evening service! Chatted to the bass player, who turned out not to be the bass player but in fact the worship leader was the bass player, and it was all very confusing.
Monday morning we had enrolment and registration etc, that all went fairly smoothly, followed in the afternoon by some talks from departments around the Uni, mainly very dull. In the evening our flat (apart from Charlotte, who likes things a bit more lively) went down the White Swan, our “local”, and chatted, drank, played air hockey and pool, etc. I left before too late, because I was shattered.
Tuesday: more dull talks, including a very boring talk about “an introduction to student living” at the Guildhall. Straight after that me and Dan wandered down to Jamocha’s, a coffee shop where a cell group from King’s Church meet every tuesday. When the shop closed we went to a quiet room at the back of a pub where we played pool and some rather large and never-ending game of darts.
Wednesday: only one talk that day!! and it lasted about 5 minutes, about the student union, and after that we went round the fresher’s fayre, which was quite rubbish actually: got no useful stuff! Only a magnetic paper clip holder! Oh, and a wooden spatula and metal tea spoon from Wilkinsons. In the evening Dan attempted his washing while the three of us, me Dan and Hayley, sat playing cards in our kitchen, having a quiet night in.
Thursday: yet again more talks, including a maths diagnostic test, and in the evening we had our first Christian Union meeting, and some weird guy sat next to me and then later on told Sarah, the girl i was sat with, to “watch out for that guy” (meaning me) – she was freaked out by him and decided to come down the pub with us instead of letting him walk her home!
Today: no talks today!!! I tidied and hoovered my room… and that was about it. We had a talk in our kitchen about keeping it clean etc, then I went to the CU’s BBQ on the common. Some local obviously called the emergency services, because a fire engine turned up… When it got too cold, James and I went back with Sarah to her flat, to see what Burrell House was like, and then everyone from her floor went out to Guildhall Walk, so when we reached there we parted and I came back up here. So interesting!!
