The Lord is gracious and compassionate

Oct 07 2006

That’s the simple truth of it isn’t it? The Lord is gracious and compassionate. We wouldn’t be here if He wasn’t. Praise the Lord, oh my soul, praise the Lord.

I was reading Dan’s blog where he had listed his favourite worship song, answering questions like “One worship song that has changed your life?” and “One worship song that you rarely get tired of playing?”. For me, the latter would have to be _The Lord is Gracious and Compassionate_.

*The Lord is Gracious and Compassionate*
This is so true isn’t it? His grace has saved many, it’s by His grace that we are given the chance at eternal life. And compassion? How many times do we need compassion and God’s the one there to give it to us?

*Slow to anger, rich in love*
How different from us is that. How often are we too quick to anger, and yet not abundent enough in the love that we give to those around us? We can be so sharp of tongue when all is required is a hug and a quiet word of encouragement. Maybe we need to stop talking before we think, and putting our brains in gear before we unlease our anger on someone who really could do without. Brings us that one step closer to God, while helping those around us – bonus!

*And the Lord is good to all*
Well, what else is there to say about that? Once again, maybe we should try and take example from the Creator? Maybe? It might just create a better world, eh?

*He has compassion in all that He has made*
Again, we could _all_ do with being a bit more compassionate to all that He has made too… And maybe these silly countries would decide that fighting was nasty and they ought to get along. I wish.

*As far as the east is from the west, He has removed our transgressions from us*
And that is all that Christianity is about really. That’s why I’m here today, and thats why I’m able to say that I have something to live for, which is far more than most people out there. Come on guys, if you’re not a Christian, you are missing out on something so amazing it could never be put into words. Jesus died. For US. For me, but more importantly for YOU. So think about it – it really CAN change your life. And as far as the east is from the west? Pah, He’s taken them further than that.

*Praise the Lord, oh my soul, praise the Lord*
And that is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life, and also the rest of eternity. Though eternity is going to be so much better than my life on earth, so bring it on! Though maybe not that soon…

Thats a good encouraging blog, a nice thing to read whe you’re a bit tired and homesick. Its nice just knowing Jesus and that God has a plan so homesickness isnt such an issue!

‘Though maybe not that soon…’; why the doubt? You’ve made the massive and unfounded supposition of a transcendental being, commit to it my friend.
