Another Xbox Evening

17Oct

So its been an eventful day. A lecture in the morning, followed by a small group tutorial. My tutor is Manish Malik, and there are 4 of us in the tutor, two doing Internet Technology, one doing Communications Engineering and the other doing Engineering Analysis.

I had to go shopping before lectures began today; I had run out of spread and ketchup and bread. So I had nothing to make breakfast with, but that was soon solved. On the way back from Tesco’s I met Dad, who told me there were two packages waiting for me in his office, so I collected them and came back here. One was my new router (more later) and the other was the 10-pack of Ian Ranking books.

After my morning lectures, I went with Dan to get some shopping that he needed, then we went back to mine where we set up my router. It was a bit tempermental (however you spell it) to start with, but once I restarted it etc it was quite happy to connect to the network. So this is in fact being written on my Linux machine running Fedora 5… yay!

Afternoon lectures were interesting! We had an hour and a half computing practical for Introduction to Internet Applications, and the first page of notes said “Note to experienced HTML coders: If you can complete this quiz and get 20 out of 20, you do not need to come to this lab session.” I managed to get 20 out of 20 in about 2 minutes, having already done that test before out of interest, and so was able to leave! Following that lecture was another one, at the start of which we were told if we got 50% or more in the diagnostic test in the induction week, we didn’t need to come to this lecture. So I left that one as well!!!

Cooked bacon in a part-baked baguette for dinner, while watching Neighbours. After that, met with Dan and went down to student cell where we chatted, and did student cell stuff! Why is it that I find it so incredibly hard to pray in front of a group of 5 other people all of whom I get along so well with? Everyone else managed to pray ok, it was just me who didn’t… I also find it incredibly hard to talk about my faith to them, maybe even harder than it is to talk to non-Christians…

After that, we went down the pub until about 11, when we left for Adam’s house. Well, 6 of us did anyway. When we got to Adam’s, we decided we were hungry, and went down the chip shop and bought some chips, back to Adam’s, and on to the Xbox! Me and Dan (not WeeManDan) beat Adam and Dan every game we played, it was a fun evening.

And I can justify writing this this late because I have no lectures tomorrow (or today). So I can sleep in for as long as I like!!
