Text Replace & Link Plugin
Apr 26 2007
I’ve created a plugin to do what I had previously hacked a plugin to do, so now it’s a much nicer and much better solution.
It’s downloadable from this site, but bear in mind that it has no documentation, etc. It was made purely for this site, though if I could be bothered to write some documentation for it I might put it on WordPress.org.
To use it, simply place the php file in the /wp-content/plugins/ folder, and activate it from the Plugins tab in WordPress. The management is under the Manage tab, with the header “Link Replace”.
Basically what it does is replace certain words with other words that are linked to a defined destination. For example, I could replace all instances of “Ben Cardy” with the word “Ben” linked to my blog. This removes the confusion that could happen if, for example, I wanted to talk about a different Ben but every word Ben was linked to my blog.
So good luck if you’re using it, it can also be used in the same way as SH Autolink, if you simply set the Replace and With fields to the same.

I still reckon you should do the documentation etc, give you something to do the next time you’re bored at work.
