Ubuntu
May 10 2007
A few days ago I dual booted my laptop with Ubuntu 7, and it’s a surprisingly nice operating system. The interface is nice (once you get the right screen resolution!), it runs smoothly, and it’s fully customisable. I remember Toni blogging about Linux once and saying how the fonts were fuzzy or something. They were on this until I got the right resolution working. Now it’s perfect! I haven’t yet tried booting into Vista so I’m hoping it’s still working!
Maybe I’ll get this working on the University wireless… though I doubt it! Though someone on the forums has, so it’s obviously possible.
Since I started writing this, I have now booted into Vista, and that is still working, so it’s all good.
What I like about Ubuntu is the amount by which you can customise the interface. Icons, themes, window bars, behaviours, etc; it’s all customisable. You can even download an application that will act like the dock on a Mac and it looks great.
Don’t you just love Linux……
