Welcome to Sleeping Monkey
May 15 2007Sleeping Monkey is launched! I’ve moved my blog to a separate domain, and given it a new look and a new title. The idea of the new design is that it can change colour according to the picture, so it may change without notice!
I don’t know where the name Sleeping Monkey came from, other than I was playing around in Photoshop the other day with some interesting properties of shapes and subtracting/adding to them. A circle came about, which for some reason evolved into the outside shape of the monkey you see around this blog. A few more fiddles with circles and the eyes, ears and mouth appeared, lending the shape of the monkey and the impression that he was sleeping. Kinda cute, huh?
The coding for this blog is somewhat different to my usual coding style, and it’s actually quite nifty! Ideas came from a book I’ve been reading by David Shea and Molly Holzschlag called The Zen of CSS Design, inspired by the revolutionary site the CSS Zen Garden. Maybe I’ll blog more about the coding later.
But for now, welcome to Sleeping Monkey
