Mar 22 2008On the day that has just passed, around 2000 years ago, some guy that had totally revolutionised the thinking of a handful of people, was murdered in the most horrible way known to man at that time, for no crime at all. They had nothing to pin against him, he had done nothing wrong – they just didn’t like his ideas. Yet in this day and age, around 2 billion people alive at this minute do like his ideas. They believe that the brutal murder of the man called Jesus was for a purpose, so that we may all have life and live life to the full. Sound’s kinda crazy, doesn’t it. Yet I believe it’s true.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins. And still, 2000 years on, it’s relevant today. Without Jesus, none of us can know God. Without knowing God, who are we? What are we? What is the purpose of our existance here on earth if there is no way that we can know God? Luckily for us, there is – and that way was the death of Jesus, bearing all our sins upon his shoulders.
In those days, he changed the thoughts of only a handful of people. In the days to follow, millions more were to come to believe, and thousands, millions, billions of lives were changed for the better.
He died for all of us. The least the world could do is show a little respect for a man who helped shape history.
