My new offices

I just thought I’d post a quick picture (courtesy of Google StreetView) of my new offices:
t’s coming up to the end of my final year at University. In approximately two weeks, I will pick up my bag for the last time in Anglesea Building, and walk out. Ok, so I’ll have to return in mid-July to attend the Graduation Ceremony, but two weeks tomorrow is the last day of work that I have to do. And that’s a pretty weird thought.
Finally have all the marks back for my 2nd year of Uni, meaning I don’t have to have anything to do with University for a year now! Here they are, along with some information about my placement next year.
Who knows. But I do know what next year kind of holds! I know I’ll be working for Cisco, as I got a phone call a few weeks ago asking if I would like to accept the position of a Network Test Engineer!! So prayer was really appreciated, and it really worked.
Woo, I got through! Assessment day on Monday the 11th of Feb, 10:00 – 13:30. Prayer would be much appreciated. Not that I get the job, though, but that what happens should be what God wants to happen, be it working for Cisco or not. Thank you :)
With a polite apology that he didn’t make it through to the next stage. Sorry, mate. I don’t yet have an email. Eek.
Heads up on the mobile front – I’m now using my old phone, so I have most people’s numbers in there still just not the new people I’ve met since I had the Smart Phone. It is kind of nice to get back to a keypad and everything, but I miss the wireless capabilities and [...]
My phone has decided that it doesn’t like chargers, and therefore won’t accept one. So, I have one dead phone, no method of mobile communication, and a useless piece of plastic containing all my contacts. So that means I don’t have anyone’s numbers, so please, please if you read this, can you email me your [...]
Well I moved into our house on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, and it’s great! The house is really cool, I have the biggest room which probably makes me biased, but Dan and Ruth (and Phil, our new German housemate) seem to like it too… Sunday comprised of a BBQ round Blade’s (Adam’s / Student Pastor’s) house, lots of [...]
So, it’s been quite a long time since I last blogged, and a number of things have happened! I’ve been on holiday, got a job, slightly extended my hi-fi… France I went to France with Ineke and her family. We stayed in a cottage in Normandy for a week, and then moved on to a [...]
As Dan rang and told me the other day, we’ve won an award at University! Dan and I won the First Year Network Electronics PBL Prize for our work with Assembler code and Microcontrollors. Apparently the prize is a small cheque and a certificate. As I also noticed on the list, I’ve won what’s called [...]
It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged, I know. But I’ve just checked the University Portal, and seen I’ve got some results back! In the Web Project Unit (Mi-Fi) we’d been told our individual marks for parts of the unit, but now the overal result has appeared on the Portal – I got 80, [...]
I really need to get back into the swing of things when it comes to playing the Double Bass, if you’ll pardon the Jazz pun. At Big Band tonight Ramsey asked me to play the Double Bass for the rehearsal instead of my usual electric, and I thought it wouldn’t be too bad! But now [...]
Just a note to say, there has been a new development on the site. You can use the arrows in the boxes in the sidebar to position the boxes in the order you want, and the site will remember them for next time you visit. On less a technical note, I’ve now seen all of [...]
Looking forward to Wednesday where I can relax, after handing in a couple of pieces of coursework that have been ongoing for a while. The Mi-Fi.com coursework final report is due in (as we found out at 3am Friday morning!) and the other e-commerce site we have to do is also due in. So on [...]
I have finished the Scout website, it’s in my Portfolio now. Please note that the design was not me, just the back end development! Unfortunately it’s the one bit that goes unappreciated by Joe Public. Saw Music & Lyrics again last night… James, Ruth Clare and I were supposed to be going to see Hot [...]
:( And this scout thing is harder than it looks…
So Ineke and I had the Friday as our valentines day. We exchanged presents before watching a movie and eating After Eights. Ineke got me lots of chocolates and a small heart clip photo thingy, really sweet, just need photos for it! I think she was impressed with her perfume, see her blog! We watched [...]
None at all!! I did my last one this morning, which went suprisingly well, I think! At least, I hope… Nice early start though, 9 oclock exam, unusual for me to get up that early recently! Had work this afternoon, so I packed to go to Bath before work, not long before I get to [...]
It’s always nice to have satisfied clients; Ramsey and Hannah certainly seem happy with the site, but I don’t know about anyone else yet! Big Band was good tonight, we did I Wish, Little Brown Jug, some old songs I haven’t heard in a while! For some reason I feel like going down the pub [...]
And it is really frustrating! Designs for PPM are just not coming… how can I get around it? I’ve tried sleeping on it, but that doesn’t seem to have worked either. I’ve made one good design but I need a couple for the client. Thing is, I can’t seem to get my mind off of [...]
Well I know it’s only been an hour and that I’m a third of the way through, but it *is* boring! But it’ll pass soon… So what have I done of any significance since I last posted? Not much, to be honest. I went with Sarah to B&Q a few days ago (Saturday, I think [...]
I had a surprise birthday party planned for me on Monday evening! It was really cool :) I almost really ruined it as I decided not to go to Big Band (was feeling a tad under the weather, couldn’t really be bothered to be honest) and they were planning on setting it up while I [...]
For the 2nd piece of Technology Context coursework – the Statistics presentation! Who knew that talking about Life Expectancy, Education, Population and Internet Usage could get you 86%! Yay! And the voting is over on the Christmas Movie competition, I came 6th out of 68 and got an average rating of 5.8 ish, and was [...]
You know, it’s odd. Dan can play much better than me one minute, and beat me by all the balls on the table, yet the next I’ll beat him by the same amount – I think on my part it’s mainly fluke. I did a few really cool shots, off about 4 cushions and into [...]
First time I’ve played in a gig in a long time! We were playing at the Registry, and it was *packed*, it took longer than 15 minutes to get to the bar meaning I didn’t get a drink all night… We were all dressed in black with white ties and blues brother’s type hats… We [...]
I know. But I’m bored. And I haven’t blogged since, oooh, sunday night! I don’t like Mondays. I have so many lectures, I have more lectures on Monday than on all the other days. 7 on Monday, and only 6 over the rest of the week! OK, so that isn’t including lab sessions, but still! [...]
Well, “blues” as in the music style not the mood! We had our first practice of the new Big Band today, and it was really good fun. We even have our first gig, Wednesday the 25th of October (a week and 2 days) at the Registry. The dress code is “Gangster”, so black clothes with [...]
Goodbye to Ineke today. I had to drive off and leave her at her house, as she goes off to Uni tomorrow. I don’t leave until Friday. We’ll be 82 miles apart when we’re both at Uni, but distance can be overcome. I hated having to drive off and leave her standing on her drive [...]
davereeves.co.uk is nearing completion! Just a few more details needed from Dave, then to purchase the domain and the hosting, and it’ll be online. Check the portfolio for details. The site incorporates far more than the outside shows. There’s an extensive content management system behind the scenes that enables Dave to add new projects and [...]
I have finished all 9 of my summer exams! Finally! Had the last two today, Computing CPT4 and CPT5… “Processing and Programming Techniques” and “Advanced Systems Development” – they went ok… Unlike some of the other exams such as FP2, FP3, DC etc… I think that Computing exams really ought to be on programming… If [...]
Well the PS3 doesn’t look as if it has much chance anymore, if the E3 was anything to go by… People were queueing like crazy for Nintendo’s Wii, and even Microsoft had more attention than Sony, even though their console is already in the shops… Though it doesn’t look as if they’re going to be [...]
